The teacher
Meet Mrs. RobertsEducation and experience
I teach elementary music at Fountaindale Elementary School for the Arts and Academics in Hagerstown, MD. I am passionate about curriculum and desire for each of my students to have fun learning while developing an appreciation of music.
I am always growing and learning as an educator and I recently completed several courses on arts integration and special learners in music. I completed First Steps in Music training which focuses on engaging and teaching primary (PK-1st grade) musicians. I have also completed my level I Orff certification and I integrate the principles of sing, say, dance, play to make my music classroom more engaging! In 2017 I achieved National Board Certification in P-12 music education. I earned my Masters of Education, with a focus on Technology Integration, from Walden University in 2007. I am also a 2002 graduate of Lebanon Valley College with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education. I continue to learn innovative and exciting ideas by attending conferences, reading, connecting with other music teachers, and leading other teachers in my district.
Family
I am married to my best friend, Tyler, for 20 years and I enjoy spending time with him. Our daughter Addison is 15 years old and in 10th grade. Mackenzie turned 12 in July and is in 7th grade. I love every moment (well almost…..) of being a mom!
Outside of school I am busy kids’ choir and small group at my church. Most evenings I am running my kids to sports, activities, and church. In my spare time I enjoy working out, singing, reading, skiing, and playing games.
